2024 Florida WildQuest Frequently Asked Questions
Where can I go to participate in Florida WildQuest?
This year’s Florida WildQuest will take place April 27 through May 5 on Florida’s Wildlife Management Areas. These natural areas are managed by the Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission for the long-term well-being of wildlife and the benefit of people. Find your closest WMA by using FWC’s WMA Recreation Finder Map.
Note: Andrews WMA and Little Gator Creek WEA are closed during Florida WildQuest. The parking area at the Lake Placid Scrub Tract of Lake Wales Ridge WEA is temporarily closed. Please play at the Royce Unit or the Carter Creek Tract.
Is Florida WildQuest free?
Florida WildQuest is free. However, some WMAs require a daily use permit fee.
What is GooseChase? Is it free?
GooseChase is the industry leading scavenger hunt app for your phone. The app is free to download and use. Click here to download it on your mobile device.
How do I join a WildQuest scavenger hunt?
Starting April 27, enter the WildQuest game code DE6E39 into the GooseChase app on your phone, and you’ll be ready to play!
How can I win prizes?
Prizes will be awarded through a random drawing of participants who register with us and earn at least 2,000 points during one of the scavenger hunts. Don’t worry, it’s easy! Prizes include outdoor gear and related products.
You will also need to complete a short survey (the final mission in the WildQuest). The survey will gather your contact information to ensure you receive your prize if selected. See the Prizes page for complete rules.
Who can play?
Everyone can play. Florida WildQuest is geared toward people of all ages!
Can I play at more than one WMA?
Absolutely! You can play at as many WMAs as you want. Visiting multiple WMAs may improve your chances of completing more missions!
What is a mission?
A mission is the term used in GooseChase for the tasks to accomplish during the WildQuest scavenger hunts. Missions are completed in various ways including taking a photo or video or entering text.
Are Spanish versions of the missions available?
Each mission includes both English and Spanish versions.
How can I practice using GooseChase?
Want to make sure you know how to use GooseChase before Florida WildQuest starts? Explore your yard or neighborhood using our backyard practice game! Download Goosechase and enter code MX9DRL at the bottom of the search page to get started.
What if I can’t upload my photos while on the WMA?
Cell service can be unreliable on portions of some WMAs. If you experience this, take photos and videos using your regular phone camera app and upload them to the GooseChase app when you are back home. All missions need to be submitted by midnight on May 7.
What do I need to bring with me?
Some WMAs are remote with relatively few amenities like restrooms or drinking water. Some areas may not have reliable cell service.
In addition to your fully charged cell phone and a sense of adventure, we recommend bringing sun protection, bug spray, a recreation or trail guide, snacks and plenty of water with you.
Need an accommodation?
Any person who requires special accommodation to participate should notify the agency at least seven calendar days before the event by calling 850-488-9453.
Those with hearing or speech impairments may contact the agency using the Florida Relay Service at 800-955-8771 (TDD) or 800-955-8770 (voice).
